just one

Hey there! Still debating those trees and lights? We'll get to that, but for now, I wanted to share a new blog project I joined: Reverb10. For the next 31 days, I'll be reflecting on the past year and figuring out what I want from the future.

Easy enough, right? Yeah, I didn't think so.

Day 1: One WordEncapsulate the year 2010 in one word. Explain why you’re choosing that word. Now, imagine it’s one year from today, what would you like the word to be that captures 2011 for you?

Aware. I feel like the entire past year has been nothing more than making one discovery after another. I have become aware of so many things. Figuring out what my strengths are and then finding even more weaknesses.  Identifying fears that I didn't even know existed until now. Watching true friends come out of the woodwork to help me out. Watching less than true friends try to break me down. I've begun to see what it is that I think I want out of life and what steps are necessary to make that happen. I'm becoming increasingly aware of the difficulties of being an adult. This is not the life I imagined, but I'm taking it one step at a time.

One year from now, I want to see myself in transition from the life I lead to the life I want to live. Again, taking it one step at a time.

The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware, joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.
