December Daily 2012: Pages 1 - 5

I've attempted the December Daily project twice now & failed to actually complete a whole album. This year, I'm trying again and taking a different approach. Instead of going with the flow, I actually pulled together my own kit. I would've liked to purchase one of the gorgeous kits available online, but this girl's on a budget. Instead, I picked out a few new supplies and gathered them with several things I already had to make my own kit.

Since my December Daily was going to be a 4x6 mini album, I bought the 6x6 Sleigh Ride paper pad by Crate Paper. I love the color scheme and vintage modern feel of the collection. The paper pad made it super easy to pull together the mini album. Crop two inches off one side, punch some holes, and I'm done!

Five days in and I'm still going strong! Well, except for the cover. For now, it's still a plain piece of chipboard until inspiration strikes.

December Daily 2011

Can you believe 2011 is almost over? It's been quite the year. I have been counting the days until I could finally begin my December Daily mini book. I'm keeping it fairly simple and allowing myself to use iPhone photos in addition to my regular photos. I started out with my premade mini book from Elise Blaha and added in some of my favorite papers and embellishments.

I still need to add journaling to the yellow graph paper. (A sure sign I've lost my sharpie pens ...again.) The morning of my first day in December was spent with my nephew who was home from school. He chose cinnamon rolls for breakfast & brought along his stuffed Elf on the Shelf. 

I think I'd like to add in a few more holiday themed elements, but for the most part I'm happy with what I've accomplished so far.

december daily, here i come

I love getting mail. Not the junk type, but the happy kind. Occasionally, I feel like a hop, skip, and jump are necessary to the proper retrieval of packages from the mailbox. And by occasionally, I mean always.

This week, I ordered a few gifts online for friends and family. Then I ordered something for me. A just-for-fun no-nonsense type gift for myself as a reward for a busy month. My purchase was this holiday mini book from Elise.

I love Elise's mini books posted on her blog. After making my own mini book to follow along with her summer book, I decided to purchase the holiday version to turn into my December Daily. 

Last year, I tried and failed the December Daily project horribly.I scrapped seven or eight digital pages before pushing the project aside. This year, the pressure is off. The stories & photos don't have to be perfectly edited. What's important is that I finish the project. 

Will any of you be participating in the December Daily project this year?

Also, can you believe how cute Elise's packaging is? I loved the sticker on the envelope as well as the back of her business card so much that I had to include them in photos. 

December Daily: Days 3 - 5

I'm still catching up on posting my December Dailies. With any luck, I'll be caught up tomorrow! Here are days three through five.

Day 3 | One of my new loves this season is the Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate from Starbucks. Unfortunately (or fortunately), the nearest Starbucks is almost an hour away so I settled with making my own on this particular night.

Day 4 | December would not be complete without a visit to Santa. I went with my nephews to see the jolly fellow uptown.

Day 5 | This photo happened in the wee hours of the morning after a last minute road trip with a couple of friends. We had dinner at a fantastic German restaurant and visited one of my favorite bookstores!



December Daily

I'm so excited because this year, I'm finally participating in Ali Edwards December Daily project! What is December Daily? It's a scrapbook of daily moments throughout the month of December when you're prepping for the holidays. You can read more about it on Ali's blog. I'll be participating digitally this year. Here is my cover page along with days one and two of my own December Daily project.

Day 1 | The first snow of the season fell on the first day of December. My nephew and I spent time outside enjoying the magic of snow and ended the afternoon with a few snowballs.

Day 2 | The second day didn't go nearly as well. My kitten, Georgia, had been knocking ornaments off of the tree since it was brought into the living room. On this particular morning, I found the shattered remains of one of my favorite ornaments. Thankfully, it's only an ornament.
