She Heard This: Meg & Dia

I admit that I used to be one of those Warped Tour loving, punk rock wannabe music lovers. Luckily (or unluckily) that all changed after high school was over. One of the good bands whose music I hung on to was Meg & Dia. I've been a fan for years, but I especially love their most recent music.

She heard this: Red Wanting Blue

A friend of mine introduced me to this Ohio band, Red Wanting Blue, over a year ago, and I'm forever grateful. This good old rock and roll band is now one of my very favorites.

Sometimes, I need a little pick me up to make it through my love/hate relationship with Mondays. I was feeling a little blue today, so I turned to this music video to lift my spirits. The video is from my favorite band, NEEDTOBREATHE, for a song called Shine On. It's a really cute video, so I decided to share it with you today. Enjoy!

Oh no! I finally did it. I missed a day of blogging for NaBloPoMo. Never fear, I'll be posting more than once today to make up for it starting with The Civil Wars.

I have discovered many wonderful artists these past few months but right at the top is The Civil Wars. This duo, made up by Joy Williams & John Paul White, has a unique, simple sound that's all their own. Their music is almost haunting, but Joy's sweet vocals compliment the deeper voice of John Paul.

She heard this: Perrin Lamb

One of the great loves of my life is music. It's a wonderful thing when you feel an emotional connection to a lyric or a melody or a whole song. I can only imagine how boring life would be without some of the beautiful sounds we are able to listen to each day. That is why I've decided to start an ongoing feature called "She Heard This" showcasing some of my favorite musicians. 

The very first artist to be featured is singer-songwriter Perrin Lamb. 

I have a deep appreciation for musicians who write their own music, and Perrin is one such artist. His lyrics are his own. They are contemplative but simplistic. His music about life and love and mistakes echoes in relation to my own life experiences. It's easy to find myself listening to his music over and over. 

Perrin has recently released his Sometimes the Night EP for purchase on iTunes. You can also find more of Perrin's music on his website.
